• To Improve the life and wellbeing of the Global Community through the promotion of Corporate Sustainability practices

SLF Captains Forum – Ground Rules

These ground rules are designed to foster open, productive, and legally compliant discussions among senior sustainability leaders in the SLF Captains Forum.

Structure & Participation

• Each SLF member company may designate one “Captain” — ideally, the most senior sustainability leader — to represent their organization.
• Captains Forum sessions will be held virtually three times per year, for 90 minutes each.
• Beginning in 2026, Captains Forums held on 3rd Friday of February, June and October (unless date conflicts with other major event)
• Captains are expected to attend personally;  To maintain having the highest level from each company attend, substitutions not permitted.

Meeting Conduct

• An SLF facilitator will be present at all sessions to ensure structure and compliance.
• Meetings will adhere to a pre-approved agenda. Off-agenda topics may be deferred or redirected by the facilitator.
• Participants are expected to engage respectfully and ensure balanced, inclusive participation.
• Discussions must focus on strategic, regulatory, or organizational issues, not on operational or commercial matters.
• If a discussion veers into sensitive territory, any participant should speak up, and the facilitator will redirect or pause the discussion.
• Meeting minutes (if prepared) must be reviewed to ensure they do not reflect inappropriate topics or commitments.

Legal & Competitive Boundaries

SLF is committed to compliance with all applicable antitrust and competition laws. Participants must not directly or indirectly discuss, share, or imply agreement on any of the following:

🚫 Prohibited Topics

• Prices, pricing strategies, or intended pricing changes
• Profit margins, cost structures, or sensitive financial data
• Market or customer allocation (by territory, industry, or segment)
• Group boycotts or coordinated positions on third parties
• Terms of sale, discounts, rebates, or promotional strategies
• Procurement strategies or vendor-specific arrangements
• Strategic plans that may affect market behavior or competitive positioning

✅ Types of Permissible Topics

• Organizational sustainability strategy and frameworks
• ESG reporting practices and regulatory developments
• Non-commercial best practices (e.g., Scope 3 tracking, DEI in sustainability)
• Publicly available information or aggregated/anonymous benchmarking

Confidentiality & Transparency

• Captains Forum sessions are confidential and not to be recorded, transcribed, or distributed without prior SLF approval.
• Participants may share insights internally within their organizations, but must not attribute comments to other individuals or companies without express permission.
• No confidential or proprietary information should be disclosed during meetings.
• Informal agreements, or coordinated action among participants are not permitted.

This topic invites sustainability leaders to consider how evolving social dynamics, institutional actions, and stakeholder expectations intersect with enterprise risk, values, and strategy—and how leaders can thoughtfully inform executive decision-making amid uncertainty.
